MSIC

Maritime Security Identification Card

New legislation came into effect from the 1st of October that requires any person
needing unescorted access within a maritime security zone to display a MSIC. It is a
nationally recognised security identification card that shows that the person
carrying the card has been cleared to enter and work in the secure area of a port,
ship and other maritime facilities.

Applications for an MSIC must be done through an approved issuing body. 1-Stop
Connections Pty Ltd (1-Stop), as a centralised facilitator of services to the
international trade and logistics industry, is one such body having recently been
granted this status by the Department of Transport and Regional Services (DoTaRS).

Why 1-Stop?

The primary benefit to using 1-Stop as your issuing body is the combination of the
use of the Internet to provide an online web facility where maritime industry
participants can register and apply for a card and the relationship 1-Stop has formed
with Australia Post to ensure the required identity checks can be undertaken at any
Australian Post office Australia wide. This has established a network that makes
applying for the card extremely easy and very time efficient.

1-Stop is also issuing the access cards for Patrick Stevedore, DP World Ports and
Australian Amalgamated Terminals (AAT) so by applying through 1-Stop the issued MSIC
can be used as the access card for these facilities. It is one card, dual use.
